SOME INTERESTING IDEAS AND HINTS

BED SHEET HINTS

After drying my sheets, I fold both sheets and a pillowcase into one pillowcase. Fold neatly into a square. The next time you change the bed all your linens are together. No need to look for matches.

REHEAT PIZZA

Heat leftover pizza in a non-stick skillet on top of the stove. Set heat to med-low and heat until warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No more soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.

EASY DEVILED EGGS

Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal and mash until they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal and keep mashing, mixing thoroughly. Cut off the tip of the bag and squeeze the mixture into the egg white. Just throw the bag away; easy clean up.

HINTS for EXPANDING FROSTING

When you buy a container of cake frosting, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. It will double the volume and you can frost more cake or cupcakes with the same amount. You will also consume less sugar and calories per serving.

REHEATING REFRIGERATED BREADS

To warm biscuits, pancakes or muffins that have been refrigerated; place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.

NEWSPAPER WEEDS-AWAY HINTS

Start putting in your plants, working the fertilizer into the soil. Wet newspapers and put layers around your new plants. Overlap them as you go and cover with mulch. Then forget the weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic, but will not get through wet newspaper.

BROKEN GLASS

Use a dry cotton ball to pick up little pieces of broken glass. The fibers catch the pieces you cannot see.

NO MORE MOSQUITOES

Place a dryer sheet in your pocket; it will keep the mosquitoes away.

SQUIRREL AWAY!

To keep squirrels from eating your plants, sprinkle the plants with cayenne pepper. It won't hurt the plants and squirrels won't come near them.

EASIER THANK YOU'S

When you throw a bridal or baby shower, buy a pack of thank you cards for the attendees. During the party pass out the envelopes and have everyone write their address on one. When the guest of honor sends the thank you's, the envelopes are already addressed.

NEW BIKES

If you purchase a new bike for your child, place their picture inside the handlebar before placing the grips on. If the bike is ever stolen and recovered, remove the grip and there is the proof of who owns the bike.

HINTS for a FLEXIBLE VACUUM

To get dust out of a heat register or from under the refrigerator, add an empty paper towel or gift wrap roll to your vacuum hose. It can be bent or flattened to get into narrow openings.

REDUCING STATIC CLING

Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing with a pair of slacks that cling to panty hose. Place the safety pin in seam of slacks and static is gone.

MEASURING CUPS

Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup; fill with hot water. Pour out the water, but do not dry the cup. Next add your ingredient such as peanut butter and watch how easily it comes right out.

FOGGY WINDSHIELD?

Hate fogged windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box.

When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!!

REOPENING AN ENVELOPE

If you seal en envelope and then realize you forgot to include something; place the sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals easily.

CONDITIONER

Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It is a lot cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It is also a great way to use up the conditioner you didn't like after you purchased it.

GOODBYE FRUIT FLIES

To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass or cup and fill it 1/2 inch with apple cider vinegar and 2 drops of dishwashing liquid. Mix well and you will find the flies drawn to the liquid and gone forever.

GET RID OF ANTS

Put small piles of corn meal where you see ants or ant hills. They eat it, but cannot digest it. So it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works.

You also do not have to worry about small children or pets being harmed.

BEACH HINTS; TAKE BABY POWDER TO THE BEACH

Keep a small container of baby powder in your beach bag. When you are ready to leave the beach, sprinkle yourself and everyone else with the powder and the sand will slide right off your skin.
